Hello, have a radiator which makes a clicking/knocking noise when heat comes on and have tried to bleed it as first action.

Using a bleeding key, cloth when I try to bleed it the whole fitting seems to move round and the result is water drips out "behind" the outlet and not out where it should come... I get water dripping out where my pencil points and as I bleed the radiator and not the little white spout... this is not how other radiators I have behave....

What might be the reason for this?

Bleeding is irrelevant to the clicking, which is caused by thermal expansion of the pipes.

There is no picture. You can add one to your post by "copy and paste"

Please post a photo of your bleeding vent. Put the point of a pencil to show where the leak is. I have a feeling it will be a plastic one.

Thanks John, thought I had added photo, tried it again on the original post.

Hold the silver hexagonal nut with a spanner, and then use the key to bleed. The whole fitting ( which the nut is part of) is unscrewing.

Thanks Terry, I'll try that. Should I be worried about the way the whole fitting behaving and unscrewing?

Tighten the nut ,and don't overtighten the bleed valve .
If the leak behind the nut persists ,you would need to replace the " O " ring between the nut and rad ,as it may be now duff.
