We have 100 square metres of block paving and now have a weed problem; growing in some joints.

What would be the best solution to prevent weeds from growing out of the joints and what is the best and most economical way to do this.

Jetting, sealing, treatment any ideas anyone please.

Scrape out the earth between the joints, wash out the rest.
Fill with a mortar mix, and using a pointing trowel, make a neat finish.

Or a quicker option? Pour undiluted bleach in the joints after you've removed the top of the weeds and soil.

To speed up the pointing process have a look for a pointing gun at your local diy shop?

Make a creamy sand cement mixture and away you go... Just remember to occasionally wash the mechanism, say after every three fills?

Crystal, he said block paving. Not paving slabs.

You can use any path clear from the sheds. Wait until all is dead, then sweep up and re-sand.

There is no magic bullet with block paving. sealers etc help but very marginally in my opinion. Spraying with weedkiller once a month in the growing season will keep it weed free (or so small you dont notice them).

Path clear in theory will prevent weeds for up to three months but your not really supposed to use it on block paving.
