Hi,

currently in the early stages of planning a double storey extension to our home. The current house is facing brick on the bottom (roughly 3m in height) and then rendered above to the roof.

Defo wanting to keep the outside visual the same as currently is, just out of curiosity however, what is likely to be under the render of the current house? Will it be the same facing brick or block?

For the extension I was wondering if, financially, it would be more cost effective to block build the top half of the outer wall for the rendering (price per block against brick - against the area it would cover?).

Thanks in advance.

Depends on the age of the house if it’s older it may be imperial brick if it’s a relatively newer build 70s onwards chances are it may well be blocks.

Most jobs that are being rendered are built with block where possible for cost effectiveness and speed so what your suggesting is the norm

House was only built in ‘07. So one would assume it’s block then.
Thanks for the response
