Hello,
I've fitted a shower, and when i'd fitted the base I poured a bucket of water down it to check there were no leaks from the trap. No leaks, but the water took ages to drain away.

I asked my customer, and he said the previous shower was like that.

Would anyone suggest putting some drain cleaner down, or should I get something a little stronger like caustic soda? Or would that eat it's way through the pipe, or possibly take off the chrome on the waste?

Cheers.

If you're sure that the fall on the waste pipe is correct, then just use this:

HI

best way to overcome this, trace the pipe and relace or clean it manually

Hello,
Thanks for the replies.

Normally I would re run the waste pipe or clean it. However only a foot of the waste pipe is visible, after that it goes into the wall cavity, and joins the stack which is internal and boxed in.

I don't know how much fall is on the pipe, so at present my only option will be drain cleaner.

Cheers
