Not sure if this is appropriate or not but would anybody have any pointers on what I could expect a reasonable cost of getting an external doorway blocked up might be?

It's a standard size single doorway and the outside of the house is rendered (so no specific kind of brick work required).

I'd give it a go myself but wouldn't know where to start so would prefer to get someone that really knows what they're doing on the case! Never had any work like this done before so I have no idea what to expect although it seems to me like it should be a pretty straightforward job.

Thanks in advance!

No ideas on cost but wouldn't think this would be classed as a 'big' job for a builder.

Bear in mind though the outside will need to be rendered to match the existing stuff, (and probably painted in the summer as you won't get a perfect match), and the internal wall will need to be skimmed and plastered as well, and don't forget a matching style of skirting board.

Thank you for replying. Interesting that this might be a big job... I'm not worried about the plastering and skirting at the moment as I'm ripping out a kitchen so there will be some skimming and plastering to be done then (so will bundle the lot together). But I imagine the rendering being a difficult part of the job. Cheers.

You will need about 40 blocks inside and out.

Tie wires and cavity insulation (if applicable).

A wee bit of dpc.

Half a dozen bags of building sand and a couple of bags of dust.

Four sets of wall starters.

£120 will buy most of it. I would try and scrounge the dpc, inso' and a few ties, if you are not in the trade.

You could save a chunk by swapping wall starters for individual fish tail frame ties but they are more time consuming to fit.
