Hi there ...... here's one for the builders out there.
I,m currently refurbing an inner block wall, and have now reached up to the steel lintel, on the window wall, where all of the blocks were extremely loose., particularly within the lintel.

These have all been removed and the lintel cleaned up, ready for block replacement ...... the originals, had only got a thin bed of mortar on the lower face.

Should I cut them, so that they can be mortared, both top and bottom- as well as the sides- or just the bottom and butted, up to the inner top of the lintel.

The concrete/breeze blocks are 75mm thick

Thanks

Just a thin smear on the bottom will do to help align them vertically.

Be aware that ceiling coating may contain a small amount of asbestos if you plan on working on it.

Hi Woody , thanks for the reply , much appreciated !

I've previously sent a sample of the artex to a testing company, due to concerns about its potential
asbestos content, and fortunately, this all came back clear.
But thanks again for raising awareness about it .
