I'm about to build a 4x5m single level workshop on an existing concrete slab foundation using fibolite blocks. It will have a window on one side and a set of patio doors on the front wall.

My question is a about what to lay under the frame of patio door. I'm not going to be building up the internal floor much so want to minimised the height of the threshold to avoid a trip hazard. I've considered three options, but may be missing the obvious / correct method.

1. Use a 65mm lintel integrated into the bottom level of blocks, with inverted L-shape cut into the blocks on each side to allow the overlap. (issue is the blocks are 100m high, the l-shape would leave 25mm of block when factoring 65mm lintel and 10mm mortar... This seems thin for a block that will have many more stacked on top)
2. Same as 1, but don't integrate the lintel into the blocks, just cut the lintel to the width on the opening.
3. Use blocks cut to 50mm high across the width of the opening.

Why does the lintel come into it? Assuming you’re building up the floor by at least 75mm, you could do a course of engineering bricks all the way round, then the doors sit on top of them.

I'm not planning to build up the floor, just screed the existing.

Screed up to the top of the brick course then. You’ve then got the door threshold, and floor, a sensible minimum height above ground level
