Can anyone tell me the best way to plant/ cultivate seeds from Bluebells ? I have hundreds of seeds collected from my garden and would like to plant more in other areas of the garden. Many thanks in anticipation.

If they are English bluebells it's worth trying, but if they are Spanish ones (ones with masses of flower heads) then do as I do and pull them up and destroy them. If you are soft about these things, they will hybridise with the English ones, and as they are rampant, there will be no English bluebells.

Thanks oilman, my bluebells are actually SCOTTISH Bluebells. There is a difference. The majority of English Bluebells came from or originated inSpain anyway.Up here in Scotland we have many areas in woodlands that have been colonised by these plants and when in full flower it looks like a bright blue carpet has been laid on the ground.

Sorry for not providing some help comments. It sounds an interesting exercise. Is the Scottish bluebell different from the xx non-scripta species?

I have trawled about for some information, and found a few interesting things on google, none of which said much about growing the things. This might be useful, it indicates the seeds germinate easily but take 3 years to flower. There is another document that cautions against propagating from seed unless you are sure they have not been cross pollinated with other species, and lastly to use poor nutrient soil, as fertiliser causes problems for wild flowers.

If I find some more links I will let you know, best of luck.

Im not sure but i would, sow in poor soil (in a pot) and under dappled shade (netting etc) and leave them to get "frosted" as they would in the wild, many wild seeds need the frost on them to germinate.
