bmw 730i auto box fault

i've got a 89 bmw 730i auto.

the thing will not drive at all.

the cable under the box moves correctly, the brake lights work and the reverse lights work.

on the dash it goes through all the gears but there is no sound at all from the box.

any thoughts?

second hand box wont cost you much, paying someone to put it in might.

m30 engine/box is a doddle to get out though, might even be able to get the box out on its own from underneath.

is there any oil in the autobox. no/low oil = no drive.

check for split cooler lines.

can you find out which 'box it is? ZF 4HP22 at a guess.
