Boarding out garage loft

I'm looking to board out the loft space in my garage, couple of questions:

• Can I remove the diagonal ceiling bracing as the boarding, once fixed down, would be doing the same job?
• If not, can I lift the diagonal bracing, lay & fix the boards, then refit the diagonal bracing?

I'd leave the longitudinal braces in place which are fixed to the gable end with steel straps.
