The obvious professional success aside, he was a lovely bloke. I was at the England v Germany friendly on Sunday. For those that don't know, it was played for his charity. Almost 35,000 people turned out. The atmosphere was both moving and very enjoyable. I'm so glad I was there with my family.

A wonderfully loved wonderful man.

a great footballer, a great manager, a great man. He was one of those people who would spellbind me when you heard him talking.

Certainly in my time the best england manager we ever had.
