Boiler and GCH system

I had a leak in the cylinder pipes.
So I had to drain all the water, and undone the hot taps, and drained the cylinder.

After fixing the leak, I opened the stop cock and released the cold water.
After a while the water rushed through the hot and cold taps.

I put my boiler on (Potterton) to heat the water.
After a while the boiler switched off.

I also noticed that there was no water in the radiators.
This may be due to air in the system.

I would be extremely thankful for advice, to sort out my problem.
How would I remove the air and why did the boiler switch off on heating the water?

sounds like your pump is airlocked. so the hot water is not being pulled away from boiler and over heat stat has activated.
