Hi guys. I came onto your site just two days ago as I had an old Apollo boiler that was mini-exploding after half an hour.
The system is all about 16 years old.
After reading your experts advice, especially Kevplumb who must be having a terrible time in Afghanistan, I applied Fornox Super Concentrate Boiler Noise Reducer through a rad.
Amazingly the noise stopped straight away.
Do I have to now drain the system and apply Inhibitor, or can I leave the Noise Reducer in and save another £25???

Thanks for your expert advice Kevplumb.
As you have said that I must replace Boiler Noise Reducer with the next treatment, perhaps you could help me with draining and flushing the system?
I think we have a header tank in the loft-space above our flat as one of the pipes coming out of the boiler has a T junction with a pressure relief little valve on it and the other one disappears into the loft as well as going round the rads.
If this is correct, can I just open one of the lowest point taps, and let the rad contents drain away, thro' a hose, until it looks clear, knowing that the header tank will automatically send clean water thro' the system as the old water is evacuated?

If not, what is the CORRECT way of draining and flushing.
By the way, are all the latest chemical treatments available in the Afghan Desert despite the shortage of food and other raw materials etc?
Should I ask the other guy who is often on line from Antartica my questions regarding my outside pipes freezing in the winter?
Many regards msg.
