I have a potterton promax 28 he, and when a cold tap is turned off the boiler fan and pump starts, the gas does'nt come on though, i have no dead legs or air locks and ive tried opening and closing the stop tap to different pressures with no real effect, my pressure is ok and i dont have water hammer. Boiler is working ok and the fault has been for a while.

How do you know you dont have any dead legs or air?
I am sure that if you turn off the cold into your boiler it will stop!
Solution, first admit you do, then fit a non return valve in HW outlet from boiler!
