We are putting together our fairly extensive building plans on a new house we are in the process of buying, and want as part of this to replace the very old boiler with a nice new modern condensing one. We also want to move the location but I’m not sure how long the flue can be. The new location would give us easy access to the vertical flue which runs the full height (3 floors) of the house but can the new boiler have a flue which is running the best part of 5 meters?

Cheers,

TC.

Select boiler, and check spec. It is unlikely you will get (satisfactory) answer to your question.

Normal flue length are 3m i.e. a straight (no bends) run of three m from boiler top elbow. Some can do 4m and some even 5m. BUT, insert a bend in the flue and you are up a gum tree. You can go two pipe route for longer but then have to worry about bolt on requirements.

Best move the boiler.

Do consider getting the system (properly) cleaned, not a drained down and a refill which leaves all the sediment at the bottom of the rads
