Hi All

We have put an offer on a house but are concerned because the neighbouring property (its a semi) has built a rear extension and has the flue from their boiler sticking out of their new wall horizontally into our garden. It sticks out about 400mm and is approximately 2m from the sitting room window and the french doors. It is approx 6-7ft up from the ground.

Does anyone know if this is allowed by Corgi and whether or not it is safe ... I understand that in law they are trespassing but the Corgi/safety issue is a priority.

Thanks a lot!

Its not mostly a CORGI issue as it was probably not fitted by a CORGI installer! You could get them to come and see it though. You can check by phoning CORGI and asking if the installation has been notified to CORGI. I expect not!

Your complaint route will be either directly through your solicitor or through the Building Control or the local Environmental Health Officer claiming its causing a Statutory Nuisence.

The EHO is likely to be more interested and they have very strong powers. They would usually issue an Improvement Notice but they could issue a Prohibition Notice if they were convinced it was bad enough.

Let us know what happens if you buy the house.
