I have a strange issue with my Baxi Duo Tec 28GA.

When using the central heating the boiler seems to make a load horn/trumptet like noise which is audible inside and out.

As the boiler is heating up the sound goes in and out of phase and will in the end disappear after about 10-20 minutes. Turning on the hot water will interrupt this.

So it seems that when the fan is at max it doesnt make the noise.

It has recently been servcied and had a new flue fitted but the noise happened before this and didnt appear whilst engineer was working on it.

I did see someone else on another forum mention a bent heating plate so perhaps burner.

I've emailed Baxi but so far they've been pretty useless.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Baxi will only likely help if you’re a gas safe registered engineer. We can only give out certain advice. Was it properly serviced?

There is an obvious fault for the fog horn when another make of boiler does that, whether the Duo Tec is suffering the same issue though would need to be confirmed. As suggested though, It will need a GSR engineer in the fault find.

When it was serviced as it was summer and ive not long been in the house i wasnt yet aware of the horn issue. The reason for the flue change was because the end has become brittle and was crumbling away.

its only now its got colder that the heating has really been used.

The problem i have is that when the engineer turns up again the boiler may just work fine as its not always it does it. in the day it seems fine. its later on when it seems more likely to do it. perhaps after showers in the morning it is hotter and only appears once its had time to cool.

So i was hoping for some pointers to direct the engineer to make sure he checks. i'm thinking damaged burner or o ring somewehere.

@Madrab when you say there is an obvious fault on another boiler do you happen to know what that is

What you would do is take a video of the problem when it occurs, that will allow you to show the engineer exactly what's going on, from that he may be able to diagnose and repair.

The other boiler fault is to do with the gas train, from the gas valve up through into the fan. Again though, needs a GSR engineer to check and confirm as only they can do the requisite testing.
