Hi

I am having some ongoing problems with my electric storage heating system.

An engineer has pin pointed the contactors as the problem, he was unable to get any until monday so as i work for a wholesaler i have sourced replacements.

I have fitted schnider 15959 in place of the finder originally fitted and wired in exactly the same way.

This resolved the problem and boiler worked, unfortunately after turning the hot water timer off the contactors have gone to the closed position. i have tried turning the whole system off and restarting it with no resolution.

When power is switched on contactor closes and opens once switched off.

does anyone know what may be causing this.

I have on and off peak supply to the boiler, could this cause any problems.

AFAICT, that contactor is rated at 25A. What is the current draw of your system?

The original contactors were 20A i was told the 25A would do as replacement i'm new to all this so only know and carrying out basic tasks

The contactors are clearly working, as that is what they are designed to do.

The fault will be in the control circuits which operate the contactors, so either the timer/programmer, thermostat(s) etc.

should i see the orange in the window on the contactor when it is working?

When the contactor is energized the window will display one colour - possibly orange.
When it is de-energized the window will display another, possibly white.

It would seem that the contactor was not the problem in the first place.
