I have a Glow Worm 24i combi-boiler which as of today is continually losing pressure. Before getting in a plumber, is there anything I can do myself to resolve the problem?
i have a glow worm and these have a generic problem with pressure relief valves (prv) - this is a unit that protects the system if the pressure rises to 3 bar - it then releases water outside - you should see a copper pipe running from just under the boiler to outside the house - selotape a food bag around this pipe and see if it's getting water into it. If it is then you have a leaking prv - I have had 3 in 2 years on my boiler. they are about £15 from boiler spares places and are easy to change.
if the prv is not leaking then you have possibly got a leak in the pipes somewhere - I had a leak over Xmas - in a joint near one of the rads - if the leak is upstairs it won't be long before you see the damp spot on a ceiling. if under the floor then more tricky - but check the prv first
