Hi all. Gas boiler from time to time makes a humming noise when it kicks in to heat the house. If I turn on hot tap for 10 seconds then off the heating kicks in and the noise stops. It is a glow worm 28c boiler. Has anyone experienced this?

Chances are it's just the pump spinning up and proving, some boilers will take a minute of two of the pump running before they then initilise the fan and then light. once running you won't hear the pump over the fan etc.

Perhaps the boiler is happy, hence it hums. Would be nice if it could sing

When it starts it won't stop at all unless I switch the boiler off and on or turn the hot water on. As I said tho it's does not happen all the time

Hi FitzyKev - sorry only 5 years after your post. I am getting the same issue with my glowom combi. Electrical humming noise when it kicks in from time to time. Stops if I switch it off at the circuit board. Did you get to the bottom of the problem?
