I have a conventional boiler of unknown age and make ( no visible name on the boiler)
I've been away from home for a few days but left the timer on to cover all day on low. Returning this morning the boiler wasn't on and the pilot light out. Radiators were quite warm so it seems it hadn't happened long.
The pilot light wouldn't stay lit. For the sake of £7 I changed the thermocouple and it still doesn't stay lit.
The piezo will spark (sometimes) but not ignite the pilot.
Any ideas. I really need the whole lot replacing with a combi but the installation would be a nightmare. The idiot that had the house before me installed kitchen cupboards around the boiler and it's very difficult to even get the front off.
