Boiler pressure

The bar pressure on our Ferroli combi boiler has been creeping up to between 3 and 4 bar when we were told that this shouldn't be above 1.5 - 2. We have had the boiler off for a while but the pressure won't drop.

The problem now is that the overflow leaks outside and there appears to be a leak inside as well as I found a small pool of water below the boiler this morning.

When the pressure has dropped in the past, the boiler is fine. Is there anyway to reduce the pressure in the system?

drain tap or rad bleed point
make sure the filling loop is disconnected

If filling loop was not connected, you can expect the pressure to creep up again. There could be a internal leak from the mains supply to the heating side.
