it may just screw out - I think it is one of these, but the head is unusual

Looks similar. The one in my wall has V shaped cut outs on the rim

try jamming something inside it and gently turn it anticlockwise, do it gently and carefully and stop if you think the plasterbord is going to damage - I don't truly know what it is but guessing it is one of these drywall fittings - you can easily make a mess taking these things out.

Thanks for your help. We have tried that without luck so have used polyfilla over it. Job done!✔️

I think it an Interset fitting. They have metal wings that splay out as it is tightened. When I need to remove them, I screw in an appropriately sized machine screw and hit it with a hammer to push the wings flat, thereby enabling me to pull the fitting out.

Just smack it through. Or cut out.
I normally smack through.
PVA hole ( wood glue will do as PVA)
Fill.
Sand
Paint

Why do that? It might be a 10mm hole, If you smack it through it could become a 16mm hole, or worse.

I've punched through loads of those and filled hole. Just my opinion on how to deal with it.

No other way to remove , it’s crimped behind the plasterboard. You can use an electric driver to spin it till it snaps and fall inside but still same size hole.

Thank all!!!
My problem is no more. Wall is now plastered and painted

I removed one last week. It was one that I had previously fitted in the wrong place. As I said in my earlier post, I loosened the screw and then hammered it into the hole to straighten the wings. The following shows someone doing something similar.

Had he used a longer screw, the wings would have been even flatter.

Like I said, I have done it loads of times. Then again, there have been times when I don't have a suitable screw and punch it just below the surface
