Ive got various small areas around the house/garage where I need to make some mortar patch repairs. (haunching around block paving/drain covers/garage door ramp etc and some wall repairs)
In preparation im going to make sure any loose crumbly mortar is removed and that i remove any dirt/lichen etc to expose the face of the sound (existing mortar)
Will also make sure the area is thoroughly damped down before applying the new mortar
Other than the above is there anything else I can do or use to ensure I get a good mechanical bond between the old mortar and the new?
