Im not 100 % certain about the wiring so if anyone can help I would be grateful :D

You need a three core heat resistant cable (not two core plus earth). You can buy it from B&Q- Tower brand.

Connect boiler Ls to RX1/L
Connect Boiler Ns to RX1/N
Connect boiler Lr to RX1/3
Link RX1/L to RX1/2

Mr Hailsham...

Hi... done that .. hot water still OK.
BUT - To test the stat i cranked up the heat until the burner light came on.
Nothing happened (except for a red light at the reciever station )

Would the RF model be wired differently?

Thank so much for your help on this :0D

The wiring I gave was for the RF model!

Sounds as if the controller is not talking to the RX1.

Did you buy the thermostat new in an unopened box from a shop/online supplier or from an individual on Ebay?

Yeah

They came as twin pack from Plumbing supplies...

Any advice you can give?

Just making sure it wasn't a possibly mixed set off ebay. ;)

Have you checked the wiring of the RX1, particularly the link between L and terminal 2?

Have you checked the two parts talk to each other (see "commissioning" on page 7)

Do you have a multimeter? If so do the following checks:

1. 240v on the Ls terminal all the time (measure between Ns and Ls)
2. 240v Lr terminal when the thermostat is calling for heat (Lr to Ns)

If no 240V on Lr, disconnect the RX 1 and link the wires to Ls and Lr together at the RX1 end. The boiler should light and run continuously. If it does, the RX1 unit is faulty.

You are a star.

Did the checks and yes its a dodgy RX1.
PTS replaced both (would not split)

Rewired aand Presto. works a treat.

Thanks a million Mr Hailsham!!
