Bosch PSB650RE drill any good?

Looks good for the price. Any cordless at that price won't be up to much. As long as you don't expect too much of it you'll be fine.

Should be fine.

As mentioned above, you pay alot more for cordless... so if you're not too fussed, you'll get much more for your money corded.

Cheers.

I don't think I'll be tackling anything major. Probably the most challenging thing i'd be doing would be to drill through an external brick wall. I'm guessing it'll be ok for that?

Is there anything much better for not much more money or do you have to shell out quite a bit more to get something noticibly better?

That one will be fine for your needs, you won't need anything "better".

Just shop around for a good price :)

It also depends on your definition of better. A "better" drill for masonry would be an sds drill but these are not as good at wood or metal. A "better" drill for convenience would be a good cordless but to match the capability of corded you'ld have to pay a lot more.

There's not really any one drill that is good for everything. I carry five drills with me in the van. An 18v drill/driver, a 36v SDS, a 240v SDS, a 240v core drill and an 18v hammer drill/driver. The 18v drill/driver and 36v are out every day, the 240v SDS is just a back up for when there's a lot of masonry drilling or chisseling. The core drill is out 2 or 3 times a week and the 18v hammer drill is just a back up for when i kill the other 18v.

Before the advent of decent cordless tools and when SDS drills weren't particularly common I used to rely on a 240v Makita hammer drill and cope reasonably well so I would say your choice is spot on for an all round drill at a reasonable price.
