Looks like the motor brushes on my Bosch washing machine may be on the way out so have been looking round for a new set. What concerns me is the huge difference in price between the manufacturers replacements and cheaper equivalents, approx £37 vs £7. After a recent false economy purchase of some fridge hinges, I am quite prepared to fork out for the proper part. However, I am intrigued by this big price difference. Has anyone had a similar experience?

It's your call but I would get the cheaper brushes. Something else may go in a few months time and if you have to buy a new machine you will kick yourself for spending £37 on brushes.

If the machine keeps going and you get 12 months or more from the cheaper brushes then your quids in!

Fair comment and I may go this route as I am led to believe they are easy to change on this machine.

What I don't understand is the huge price difference between genuine and cheaper versions. It's not as if the cheaper ones are £20 for instance. The genuine parts are five times the price of the equivalent and when you see this, you can't help thinking that the cheaper ones can't be any good.

However, I have seen five star ratings for some cheaper replacements so they can't be that bad!

Dave the problem with original equipment manufacturers is that they fleece customers for oem spares, hence copies come to market.

For £7 you may as well give 'em a go!
