Hi there

I have a Bosch Classix washing machine. A month or so ago i had left a pocket full of 5p coins in my jeans and put them in the wash  . After that wash, when the water drained there was a clunking sound coming from the drain sump. needless to say it was full of coins! I removed them and then the wash cycle seemed ok, but it went on for twice as long as it should (about 2 - 3 hours). The water doesn't get warm at all - even the 90 degree wash.

Could the heater element have got damaged by the coins? or could it be something else?

Is it possible to test the element to see if it is this that has broken?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Resistance should be about 30 ohms. can be less or more but somewhere in the 20 to 100 Ohms ..

Take the mains plug out before you even take the top off...
And disconnect the element when you are testing it as leaving it connected can cause erroneous readings.

On Bosch machines the heater is on the front of the outer drum so you have to remove the cabinet front to get at it. The front is held by screws along the bottom edge behind the plinth/trim cover and one screw at the top edge which is inside the soap drawer housing. You also need to detach the door seal from the cabinet front.
