Bosch washing machine

Over the last few weeks we have noticed the washing machine would 'walk' forward when on, and today we heard it banging very loudly and it moved about 6 inches forward. It was also making an odd smell.

I emptied it and put it on spin, the machine was whining very loudly whilst not spinning very fast.

Any ideas?

Had it apart and one of the suspension struts has failed, so when there is washing in the machine the drum is just swinging about banging into things.

There is also a leak from somewhere that has caused the base of the machine to rust (may have caused the strut failure or perhaps the washing machine swinging has damaged something).

Ordered a new machine this morning.
