Bought toilet ... doesnt quite flush everything away ...

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this sort of thing!
Without wanting to sound like Alan Partridge either ...

Bought a new bathroom from a major high street chain , ie shower, tub, toilet, basin.

The old toilet used to flush everything in one flush - this one doesn't. Leaves paper. Even a second flush sometimes leaves paper.

My question is, is this expected from a new toilet, ie normal behaviour?
Im a bit annoyed we had a good toilet before, replaced with something more efficient (dual flush) but doesn't flush properly.

I'm half inclined to contact the shop and make an issue, unless I'm told this is reasonably normal nowadays.

Some are better than others...you get what you pay for. It can also be affected by your waste pipework but pan design is a major factor

Not unusual for a modern toilet to be worse than the one that's been replaced. You might be able to adjust the water level in the cistern to get slightly more flush. Unfortunately we have to put up with 6ltr cisterns these days resulting in most people flushing it twice, thus using 12ltrs.

If it's a button flush, have you tried holding the button down for the duration of the flush?

yes if its a flap it will just stop when the flap reseats
you can tell if its a flap you tap it it will let a few dribbles by and stop

Some flush valves allow you to adjust the flush volume of the full and half flush. Check the instructions, there may be some adjustment.

Was the waste outlet higher on your old toilet?

I.e has the new toilet got enough fall?

The model I ordered was Euro Trio Closed couple, at 369 from bathstore.
So I don't think this is cheap personally but maybe its about right for a reasonable toilet.

@squeaky think I tried holding it down, yes - but there you go, you do it so often you don't even notice!

When you say tap it, tap it where? on the button flush?

Where does the waste for the toilet go? Through the floor or wall?

If the wall, how high is the waste pipe?

Modern toilet need to be 150-160 mm to centre.

has the fitter used a concertina type pan connector? slightly uphill maybe?
all the doodoo's collecting in the ridges?

pipes are supposed to be smooth internally to allow proper flow.

Check the buttons on the pan lid are adjusted properly to allow the valve to open fully. Check by operating manually with the lid off; does it make things better?

Well I get a perfect flush from a Bog in a Box -Wickes. nearly £300 cheaper . Certainly agree about pan design . Form should follow function but the opposite is often true. If it's just paper it leaves- change the paper.
