Boxing in pipes on ceiling

Hello. I have some pipes I need to box in on a kitchen ceiling and just needed some tips on the simplest way to do it. The area is approx 6'x 3' and he drop is about 8 inches.

Simple timber frame covered with plasterboard. What are the pipes?

They are just bathroom waste pipes. It's where the old kitchen and the extension meet. Would MDF be an option or too heavy?

Mdf is flammable, more expensive and heavier than plasterboard.
