Brain Training

Does not work.

The billion dollar industry promoting brain training games has been proved not to work.

Even the biggest of them, Nintendo, have admitted that their games only make you better at their games, but do not improve any other function of the brain.

Glad I never purchased any of their sheite falsely advertised products.

:( i bought brain training 1 and 2.....and big brain academy!!....

well isn't that obvious?
learning to play the piano doesn't mean you automatically know how to play the guitar..
repetitive playing of any game makes you better at that game and while it may have slight improvement on hand-eye co-ordination etc it's only the same as you'd get by playing a different game for a similar length of time.

The whole "experiment" on that BBC program was flawed and a wasted opportunity.

It would have been a far better apprasial of these mind games if the experiment had asked them to study, for example, a selection of a few GCSE subject topics over the duration of the investigation, and given tests of this newfound knowledge.

I am sure that a comparison of the control group and those who also use brain-training games would have indicated a significant contrast.

It's a bit like discovering that having gone swimming everyday for a couple of months, then curiously enough you find it easier to walk up a hill.

Think the first word of my 'signature' sums it up.
Practice anything and you will get better at it.
Can anyone remember what they were like when they first started using the PC Keyboard?
Looking along the lines to see what letter was where?
And how are you doing these days?
Although I still look at the keyboard my eyes are going to the next letter or 2 or even three before I've typed the one I'm typing. (If you see what I mean. ;) )

Can anyone remember their first wa^k?

Practice makes perfect

Only someone with low brain powers would seriously think these games could have the effect of improving their brain power, ironically it is these very people who are clearly in need some brain training.
