Hi all,

I noticed that one of my brake lights is not working. Is this easy to fix, do I just have to buy another bulb or should I take it to a garage?

ps, I have a Honda Accord sri.

Thanks alot.

1) look in the owners manual where it tells you how to replace the bulb and what sort it is

2) Buy TWO* new bulbs

3) Fit them

*Because the one on the other side will be equally old so will probably fail soon.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I don't have an owners manual. Are there different bulbs for different makes of car, or is a standard bulb likely to fit?

Does anyone know of a good website where you can buy things such as car brake light bulbs?

Thanks.

If you were seriously considering taking it to a garage, walk into Halfords, or any motorists toyshop, or your local library, and for less than a garage charge to fit a bulb, get a maintenance book for your model of car. Haynes do a range that are quite reasonable.

While you are in the look at the shelves of replacement bulbs. You will probably find a very large reference table telling you what bulbs fit what cars (but the book you buy will be simpler for you, and you will need it if you have never changed a bulb before).

p.s. or look at

(You will also find it handy for your regular checks like topping up the oil, checking the antifreeze, tyre pressures etc)

If you are feeling rich then go into halfrauds, it's much cheaper to find a motor factors and buy your bulbs from them.

and to be honest most motor factors have books full of what cars need what bulbs, fuses etc etc, jst tell thm ur model and age and they shud no

Iotrez,At one time you would definately have required a "standard"bulb, usually a twin filament 5/21W known as a 380.This gave a 5W rear light, then when you pressed the brake,a 21W light showed about four times brighter to show clearly "braking". With modern styling changes, big lamp clusters up the rear pillars, and all cars having rear fog lamps everthing is changing. If you have not sorted out which type you require yet,try consumabulbs.com.These have a super bulb type sorter for all cars.
