Hi guys...my brake pad wear sensor light came on the dashboard..weird I thought as I just changed the discs n pads just under a year ago..anyway on closer inspection removing the wheel I notice the cable somehow got cut...the connector on the brake pad is fine...its the male connector coming into from the car that's the problem...the two wires going into that connector have come out of the connector..how do I remove and replace that part...I could simply cut both sides and solder up the wires and tape up with insulation tape..lol

The car side will likely be in to the harness. My first thought is get a plug off one in a breakers yard and solder then shrink wrap, individual wires then cable, onto the harness cable.

What model and year is it? ....... perhaps there's a replacement floating around on ebay.

If you post a picture that would help.

The connectors are normally repairable themselves with the right parts and tool.

If you can identify the connector a replacement shouldn't be too hard to find from one of the major suppliers like KUM, Delphi etc.

If not the above will apply, usually the OEM will supply the connector with small section of wire attached. Only the technical specialists would be equipped to repair connect terminals themselves.

It's a mk6 golf 1.6tdi. ..its the connector that goes into the brake pad wear sensor fitted onto the pad. The pad side is fine. Should have took a pic really

Also the whole cable and connector is available for about £12 which might actually even be cheaper than attempting the connector repair.[/QUOTE]

Can you post link for whole cable and connector?

Don't know it for your exact car sorry, try a parts search on the reg online and it should pop up.

I'm sure it's this one circled

My cars all use an audible type warning system, when I can hear a grating type noise this tells me its time to replace them.
