Hi
Apologies first - I do not claim to know anything about paint, which is why I joined this forum.
I am moving into a new house in approximately 4 weeks time, and the walls were only plastered last week. Although the house builder is about to paint the walls magnolia with their breathable paint, we wish to paint over it in a different colour. I have read other reports on trapped moisture - peeling and even mould behind the walls. Is this worth the risk or is there any way around it.
Thank you.

Breathable magnolia? Theyre having you on..
More likely theyll dump 2 coats of covermatt on without thinning the first coat!
Tell them you know that the first coat on newplaster needs thinning(mist coat) or it will peel / flake in which case youll hold them responsible for a complete re-paint!

2 coats, you'll be lucky. I know cowboys that just pile on 1 coat thick as, job done!

And I bet they'll get the labourers to tosh it out rather than professional decorators
