Before I phone Bosch I thought I'd ask here.

I tried to switch on the heating for the first time and was given an EA error code: flame not detected. The plumber who fitted it has taken a look and can't see the problem.

The boiler is new and yet to be switched on.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

steve

Presumably he agrees there is a problem but does not know what it is?

Is he gas registered?

Does he have a flue gas analyser to check the boiler settings?

Has he prefilled the condensate trap?

If so, has he checked the gas supply pressure when the boiler tries to fire?

My thought would be why is he unable to diagnose whats wrong! Manufacturer's engineers have to!

It's a system boiler, running a Tribune HE 180l heatstore.

1 Yes

2 Yes

3 Unsure, although I doubt it as he only had hand tools at the time.

4 Don't know - will check

5 Yes, the gas pressure was good

He was not the manufacturer's engineer, just the guy who installed it.

Its important that he has checked the gas pressure at the inlet at the moment the boiler is to fire up.

An installer these days who does not have a flue gas analyser is very suspect in my view as its needed to check a boiler is working properly and safely at installation and for most models a manufacturer's requirement for commissioning.

Worcester are very accommodating with nupty installers and dont usually make a charge for finding a boiler problem is an installer's error. Most other makers do charge about £90 in that case.

Its an argument that I have with Worcester that as the costs are built into the appliance price then why should the competent installers have to subsidise the nupties!

Tony

Tony, do they have a different approach to numptys?

OP: Has your installer got the electrical polarity of the mains supply to the boiler correct?
