Anyone know of an easy way to get the threaded section of a brass fitting out of a steel pipe? I got called out today to fix a leak and her handyman had managed to snap a brass fitting off right at the thread, I can`t get a hold of it at all
What I done was to get a thin screw driver and hammer it into the joint between the brass and steel pipe bending the edge in, I worked around the edge until I could get a hack saw blade in between the brass and pipe work and cut out a section. Once that was done I bent the rest of the brass fitting inwards and then pulled it out will a pair of long nose pliers.
give it an absolute roasting with a blow lamp then use a thin screwdriver and hammer, place the screwdriver on the edge of the brass and tap it with the hammer to try to dig it in to unscrew it, you will prob need to do it in several places, or sometimes once ot is red hot you might be able to use the thin leg of a pair of footprints, hammered in then turned with a shifter
