I have a 1934 Austin 10 and need to remove the fuel pump but the brass nuts that connect the lines to the pump are seized up - if I try to undo them the fuel lines starts to twist as well. I guess it could be that some sort of thread sealant was used, although I can't see any evidence of it, or it could just be corrosion. Have tried WD40 but no luck.

My latest idea is to heat the nuts up with a hair dryer - enough to expand the nuts but hopefully not enough to ignite the fuel!

Any suggestions appreciated - apart from having a fire extinguisher handy!

Brass... give it a bit of a wire brushing where the piupes go through the nut, maybe followed by a bit more wd. Then a back and forth motion on the spanner (not a big movement) until its freed. Might be a bit of a bugger if its been on for 72 years though

Longish shot, build a plasticine 'well' or 'dam' around the joint, fill with Plus gas or similar to submerge the joint, leave to soak for a day or so .... use the time to source new brass nut ;)

I kept squirting WD40 and left overnight and it worked!

Thanks for the replies - I like the idea of the plasticene well - will try it next time.
