Hi,
I got a double glazed glass replaced on my patio door that has an in-built blinds which malfunctioned.

The fitter would not take it to dispose it off and council said they do not collect double glazed panes and mirrors for recycling / disposal.

The door is too big to fit in my car to take it to the recycling centre for disposal

I am sure it is a toughened glass. I am thinking it to cover In in a cloth and break it. Unsure how easy or hard it is to do it.

Wondering if I use a drill on a low setting and try to drill it on one of the edges will it break into small square pieces that I can dispose it safely?

Tried to look on Internet but could not find much and I suppose it's due to the security reasons you dont see many posts on techniques.

The other alternative is, I ask some double glazing company to break it for me but unsure if they will just pop around to do it.

Thanks
LK

Lay it flat on the ground on a old dust sheet, wrap another over the top and tap the side of both panes with something hard, if it doesn't break then tap progressively harder, perhaps break the top pane first and remove the blind and dispose of in your wheelie bin then recover and break the other pane, wrap it up in the sheet and put it in the wheelie bin, you may need a hand though as it's still weighs the same and can be heavy

No!
You should not dispose of broken glass in your wheelie bin.
This includes shattered glass.
Read the local council rules, it has to be disposed of correctly.

Throw it on the road as if someone has broken a car window then report it to the road cleaning team :) :)
(Bag it up and take it to your local recycling center and put it in the aggregates skip).

An automatic centre punch/pop used to be car thieves favorite tool .
don’t try to break in in the middle, it will trampoline. Use the punch on a corner.
