I am proposing to replace four individual, ceramic, 300mm x 300mm, floor tiles on the conservatory floor because of hairline cracks. Although cracked, they are very firmly fixed (tile cement onto a concrete slab). The joint grout is as ‘hard as iron’. I am worried about two things (at least!):

1. Unintentionally damaging surrounding good tiles (i.e. Is there a technique for getting out individual tiles with no collateral damage?)

2. Difficulty of getting an even surface on which to lay replacement tiles (i.e. The old cement may also be 'hard as iron'!)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Use an angle grinder with a thin cutting disc to remove the grout around the cracked tiles this will help stop the surrounding ones being damaged then just chisel the old ones and all the adhesive up.

bolster chisel whacked in middle of tile ,
then with "Hard Gloves" ..........
put in ..
in a slither/tile bucket ..

take care an be careful ...;)

then with a bolster chisel ,
or use a old flat head screwdriver ,
chip away from underneath that tile ,
til tile front is gone ...

tidy up an clean as slithers are DEADLY ....:) :)

now you will have old mudmix again ,

chisel an hit middle an work outwards ....

now what comes in wonderful is those old xmas type presents the DREMAL .....
ok for dad , but here works ideal , lol..
dont ask ... ;)
forget that b~*llacks , hmmm

you can get a power drill attachement same as a dremil drill bit to do it /close quarter...

3 or 4 quid :)

an those who use a angle grinder , shame on you ..lol

get yourself sorted , work like a jeweller,

nice an slow ....

Squares ...SORTED
ready for you to sort it right ...
this works on a few many tiles ,

knock it off
an sort out the substrate ...

something RIGHT ..Your PROUD !!!! ;)
