On a house I recently bought it has an old car port attached to the gable wall which was rather ugly so I decided to rip it down.

All went well except for the black stuff (tar I think) which was used as a sealer between the port and wall.

Problem is now I cant get it shifted, I have tried using my power washer, wire brush etc but it just wont budge.

Anyone got an ideas on what might take it off? The bricks are a sandy colour so it stands out like a soar thumb!!

If this isn't in the right forum please move it.

Many thanks in advance.

If its hot poured bitumen I would get some heat on it first before the method Noseall has put forward to get rid of the worse, I wouldnt use an aggressive method that might damage the brickwork.

A hot air gun would melt it and then mop up with a rag. Then try the spirit and course brush.

I am with the brickie here, putting solvents on it risks the bricks soaking up the thinned tar. That is a one way process.
