I'm building a path of bricks (on a hardcore/concrete base), and although they are not the softest type (or the hardest) , I want to make sure they stand up to a lot of 'wear & tear'..

Would it be best to coat them with a patio/block waterproofer, or a 'concrete surface hardener' or similar?..or is there something else that would be good for this purpose?

cheers

they dont need it and as they do wear they will look even better.

Its not wear and tear which is the problem but frost and freezing.

If these are normal clay bricks, and do not have a good frost rating, then they will crack and shale quite quickly.

You will only be coating the surface, but moisture will be absorbed from below and this will then freeze
