I intend to brick up a now defunct air vent in my lounge. The issue is the outside is a galvanized cast iron vent in a roughcast wall. In addition there is one for next door as well just symmetrically opposite so I would rather leave the external grill as is.
My plan is to insert a bit of cavity wall insulation bat into the hole, the wall has had cavity insulation installed so I don't want to create a cold spot and brick up the inside. The question is should I do something to block the external grill? I was thinking of getting a cheap aka thin concrete paving slab, cutting it to size and sticking over the inside of the external grill. Is that overkill or a sensible precaution to stop damp getting in?
