bricks over garage door

Hi

I need to build / lay 3 courses of bricks over my garage door. The job is to be cosmetic and the bricks will support no loading above.

I am thinking of laying the bricks on some angle iron which will be bolted to existing walls at each end. The span is about 8 feet.

Do I tie the bricks in a each end?

What size angle iron??

or any other ideas?

single skin i presume?

unusual if it is single skin as normally we would thicken the brickwork at this detail, to beef up the door returns, making them 9" brickwork.
