Hi all looking for some ideas. We have a chimney which has caused a damp patch on the first floor. House built 1936 it does I believe have a small cavity wall but frankly damp is a nightmare in this part of the old house.
Chimney is unused and bricked up on first floor bedrooms with an air vent. Chimney is capped at top but with holes for vents.
I think the bridging has likely been caused by a bees/wasps nest as we had a swarm around it a couple of years ago that died out over winter. I have stuck my phone in via the air vent and it's completely blocked or appears to be via bricks with no clear sight up the chimney although I did see evidence of wasps and what maybe the bottom of the nest in one corner. I'm not really sure how to proceed is it possible to removed from the top? Has anyone had experience of similar? I've tried accessing from the vent and it's a nogo.

Appreciate any experience with similar

OP,
If possible, why not post pics of the chimney stack - the top flaunching & any pots - the "holes for vents" - & the flashing? A pic showing the interior damp would also help?
Do you have blown in CWI? Do you have render on the outside?
Have you been in the loft & investigated for any leaks or damp?

In brief, with limited information its yes, you can have any kind of flue obstruction removed but first the pics.
