Our local district council is planning to build some new houses on greenfield land. Through the centre of this development there is an existing bridleway.
The County Council have done a highways survey and decided that the existing road network cannot cope with the new development and a new access road is required.
Meanwhile a modification order has been posted to extend the bridleway to include a footpath.
Having looked at the application for the modification order it is dated 2001, i.e. 10yrs ago, and has only just been given the go ahead.
I'm worried that they might change the bridleway to an access road. Is this allowed as it is a bridleway?
Just seems a bit too much of a coincidence that when they want to build housing the bridelway is being altered at exactly the same time.
