Hi all,

Thought I'd share my story about owning and fixing my first home in UK - two floors maisonette, built in 60's
So photos of condition and work being done follows...

Started from first floor kids bedroom. Room windows facing north-east, so it was very cold and could feel breeze coming from somewhere.
Started ripping plasterboards to fit insulation, not much was found inside...

Ripping things out and fitting insulation. The first floor room has overhang to outside, and breeze was coming through exterior cladding as there was absolutely zero floor insulation and I could see streetlights through o_O All floorboards had mould on the underside :(

I think the thread title needs to be changed from
British engineered...
to
British Spec built.....

Decided to knock drywall between kitchen and living room. Ground floor - concrete slab everywhere...

New ground floor, with insulation. Could not find proper thickness so had to improvise - 3 x layers of 5mm extruded polystyrene and vapour barrier.
