Anyone else going to Brands this weekend?

I've polished both of them but I'm not sure which one to ride

My wife and I prefer the Honda, my teenage sons say the beemer.

So which should it be?

not into bikes, so I don't really care.. but the Honda looks like a tourer, the BMW looks like a racer... so..

old fart out for a jolly, or cool guy out for a f'ing good time?

who do you want to be seen as?

aha.. we now have a partial number plate.. we'll soon be there to nick both of them...

Death traps, both of them.

This aint a pop at bike riders either.

Whether your a nutter in a car or a nutter on a bike, it is usually the biker that cops it.

I used to work for Virgin Mobile, so saw quite a bit of the superbikes (they were a sponsor)

Have a nice time there!! I'd take the BMW, two nice bikes BTW.

Cheers!

Thanks Dan - and it looks like the BM has it.

I agree but if bikes get in your blood then that's it.

I will add that some bikers don't do themselves any favours and I'm sure some of them have a death wish.

Just like some car drivers IMO.

Its not the bike that kills but either the rider or other nutter that crashes into them.
With the right gear and the right attitude bikes are safe. Its the idiots who forget to look for them that cause accidents.

You may have guessed I'm a closet biker! Always wanted one but first my mum and now my wife have both put the blocks on that over the years!

This was posted on a bike forum by another closet biker

Evening All,

After 5 long months of trying to decide what suitable weekend car I can have for my new city living life-style: I have decided to forget 4 wheels, and go for 2

Living 5mins from the peaks, I was aiming for a (pre-built) kit-car, but got completely bored with the options available. Normal cheap 90s sports car now also bore me ;) - which only leaves the one remaining option (IMO) - a nice little jap sports bike.

Being the ripe age of 26, and driving for 8 years - I had never even sat on a motorbike !!!
Honestly, not once in my life had I even sat on a stationary bike - never mind ride one :(

Ensuring this wasn't a fad, I opted to try out a free test ride of a 125 over at BikeSafe (sheffield.)

Oh..... My..... God !!! :D :D :D

OK, OK - so we're talking 11bhp, approximately 20mph around a car park and only managing to reach 3rd gear ............. but I don't care! I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MUCH FUN !!!!

It truly was an epic experience! I've had some 'OK' cars myself, and I've been in some nice cars - both naturally quick, and modified. But nothing compares to the feel of riding a bike.

This is what transport ought to be. You control this motorised vehicle by 'feeling' it - not what the dials say, not what is written in a book. No sir-eee. You become apart of the machinery. You feel when the power is available, when a gear change is needed, when stability is needed, when more revs are needed. You LEAN into a corner - not slide around in your seat = you LEAN. This surely (on the bigger bikes) must feel better than your average morning quickies!) WooHoo

I am now a turned man. If there ever was a bikers-closet - then rest assured I have leaped out of it jumping and shouting and smiling.

I am still slightly baffled with the correct route into getting a full license (in that so many places differ in their courses/ what they charge/ what's included.) But a few more phone calls and I'll have this sorted.

So be ready blighty - we have one more happy two-wheeled leathered up grinning guy soon to be brilliaentering the streets.

I'll be sure to keep you posted on progress made thus far. Right now however, I'm looking into the safety. The most appropriate helmet for my usage, what type of jacket, trousers, boots and gloves.

All in all, I'm aiming to be a fully pledged rider by the end of summer! (aiming to do my CBT, DAS, then advanced.) When I enter the roads, I want to be the best. Not the fastest, or the trickiest - just the bloody best! I have so much wasted time to catch up on.

Thanks for reading, and make sure to have a smile with me. This is really, really exciting !!!!!!!!

p.s. please don't tell my mum just yet - I have yet to bring this up in conversation :) hehehe.
brilliant.

I think it's time you came out ;)

personally I would take the harley,

the beemer if ihad no choice
