Broken bifold door handle

Hi the handle on my bifold door has just sheered off. Assume I can just replace the mechanism? Any advice on how to remove - I assume the small square panels have screws behind so how do I get access? Photo included

then, yes. Prise up the little squares and the screws should be underneath!

However, if the handle has sheered, that could suggest that excessive force is needed to close the door - some adjustment of the doors and mechanism may be necessary.

Thanks- I subsequently found that, and I think that is the handle I need. So should be a straight swap but yes the handle is a bit stiff so I will have a go at adjusting. Thanks!
