I recently sealed and then applied a cement based self levelling compound to a concrete basement floor that appeared to be dry. I've laid lino (without glueing) on the floor and it has started to bubble. When the lino is rolled back, the floor appears damp where the bubbling occurred although it quickly dries out leaving a white deposit (efflorescence salts?). I'm guessing that dampness is rising through the original concrete floor, but was evaporating while the concrete wasn't covered, and is now being trapped by the lino. Are there any products that can be applied to provide a damp proof membrane between the self levelling compound and the lino. And is the lino ruined.
Thanks for all advice.
